No matter why, Sean Payton had to get rid of his sleeve cuffs as soon as possible during Denver’s Week 4 game against the Bears. On the bench, Payton’s arms were cut off with scissors by a team trainer, which was caught on camera by CBS.

At Soldier Field, it was over 80 degrees, so it makes sense that Payton might want to get rid of the elastic ends on his sleeves, which were probably keeping the heat in his hoodie. The boss probably didn’t want to change clothes on the sidelines, and there probably wasn’t time while the game was going on.
Couldn’t Payton have just done what most people do and pulled his arms up? Sure. Most people aren’t NFL leaders, though. And if you have someone at your beck and call with scissors, why not use that?
The Broncos beat the Bears, 31–28, for their first win of the 2023 NFL season. Payton’s arms were bare during the game. No one knows what happened t those shirts that were thrown away. They might show up later this week in an online sale
